“My work portrays contemporary existence and the modern psyche's battle between contemplative moments of stillness and technological intrusion.

Lone figures are rendered in thick, impastoed brushstrokes and the textured surfaces of the skin appear dense and heavy as if scarred and formed over time. In contrast, the rectangular abstractions occlude and frame the figure as a flurry of empty interruptions, flat and simply rendered as if temporary but ever present.

The human form radiates as layers of interwoven colour as if pulsating with anxious energy, balancing dull moodiness with intense flashes of fluorescence. The complicated portraits invoke feelings of a timeless state of distraction, pictures within pictures overwhelm the viewer and create a disconnect between the internal mind and exterior body. Empty hands carry a weight and discomfort as they yearn to interact with technology and sooth the restless of solitude.

My work exists to express the inner turmoil of our time, the cost of our hyperconnection and the emotional dissonance we quietly carry.”
